From the East:
Brethren: I am proud to say that our lodge has been busy this year: We have put on our own 3rd degree in May and many brothers complemented us on an outstanding job. At our last stated we put Bill Boeheim in as Treasurer pro-tem and newly raised Tycer Lewis in as Junior Deacon pro-tem. As a Lodge, we voted to support the Grand Lodge in their effort to recognize Prince Hall. All the various committees have been working very hard to the work appointed to them. The side entrance has been completed and the stone laying ceremony went well. We are approaching our annual Alms Day celebration and the committee has been working overtime. They are very fortunate to have Brother JR Yarnall’s wife Jill to assist them with the organizing, planning, and promoting. She is truly a blessing! Artists Laura Boosinger and Josh Goforth will be playing for us that evening after a wonderful meal from Peter Thomas, owner of Nona Mia’s Restaurant, and Brother Bill Boeheim. We will be having door prizes and raffles as well. Altogether it promises to be a fine evening for all- filled with fun, music, food, and the best fellowship around. We will be selling tickets at $15 each or $25 per couple until August 15th, when the price will go to $18 each or $30 per couple. The profit for this will be given to our charities, Oxford and MESH. I hope to see you all there as this will be a BIG event for us and we need your support to make this a success. We are still waiting on word from the Grand Master, and Brother William Mills regarding the organization of the Temple Company. We will have an update as soon as they render a decision and/or a ruling. We will have a practice on August 14th at the lodge at 6:30pm. All are encouraged to come and participate. We have a great time filled with fun, fellowship and, we learn a little too. The Strategic Planning Committee will meet again on August 10th for dinner and fellowship at 4:30pm at the same location as the last meeting. Fraternally Mark Bloomfield, Master |
From the Secretary:
It has been a busy year so far. We are very privileged to have many new
brothers since the last October newsletter. Brothers Craig Carter,
Zachary Renner and Shawn Griffith were raised November 29th along with
Scott Stewart of Nichols-West Asheville #650. This was the
first time in many years that Mt. Hermon conducted its own third degree
in the Lodge. This was made possible with a lot of help and
support from our brothers from area lodges. The brothers at
Vance Lodge #293 extended their courtesy to us by raising Brother John
Tycer Lewis on March 8th. And, on May 29th, Brothers Joseph Travis
Owens and Robert Walker were raised in the Lodge by our own degree
team. Wow! Did we have some great ruffians or not! In January, Dual Affiliation of WB John Burchfield’s from Black Mountain Lodge #663 was approved. WB John Burchfield is the DDGL of the 39th Masonic District and has contributed so much to the improvement and success of our Lodge degree works. Thank you very much, John. We appreciate your support. There is so much more happening at Mt. Hermon, but space is limited for this letter. Brother Ron Lambe's Alm's contribution program has taken off and we will be participating and contributing more to our local community. Brother Bill Boeheim's kitchen endeavors make us, bar none, the best “feeder” in the area. Brother Emmanuel Dumigron’s Masonic research group will also be able to also feed us well- Masonically. Stay tuned- there's no weeds growing around our wheels! Lance Grunge', Secretary Dues Reminder:
We still have about twelve brothers who have not yet paid their 2008
dues. Please help us if you are one of the brothers in this situation
by contacting the Secretary or one of the officers. The most important
consideration is whether you desire to continue as a Mount Hermon Mason
or not. We do have limited funds available to assist our brothers who
desire to be members yet find themselves in financial circumstances
that are burdensome. Please contact us. Bill Boeheim, Treasurer PT. |
